Please Fix Andrew...

Andrew David Pisarczyk was born on December 7, 2004. Just a few weeks after birth, Andrew became very difficult to feed. Andrew was not gaining weight, and it became so severe in April of 2005, that he was hospitalized for failure to thrive.

In August of 2005, Andrew as diagnosed with Mitochondrial Myopathy. This rare disease affects the Mitochondria in your body which is responsible for turning food into energy.  When mitochondria fail, less energy is generated and damage is done to existing cells within the body. As the disease progresses, it can eventually affect every system within your body causing it to fail.

There is no known cure for Mitochondrial Diseases.

Andrew was in the hospital for over 5 months, and finally came home on December 14, 2005.  He relies on a ventilator and oxygen every day and is breathing through a trach. He is also still being fed through a feeding tube.

This website is dedicated to Andrew; and to help find a cure to fix Andrew.
